Responsible Gambling

Predictions are estimates, not tips. How to stay in control, the warning signs, and where to find free, confidential help.

FootballPlazza is not a bookmaker

We publish football statistics and model forecasts. We do not take bets, hold money for betting or offer any gambling service, and nothing on FootballPlazza is an invitation to gamble. FootballPlazza is for adults aged 18 or over, and 21 or over where the law where you live sets that age for sports betting (as most US states do).

Sports betting is legal only in some US states and countries, and only with licensed operators. If you choose to bet, make sure it is legal where you are and use only operators licensed there.

Predictions are estimates, never guarantees or tips

A forecast of 70% for a home win still means the home side fails to win about three times in ten. Even a well-calibrated model is wrong often, late team news can change a match completely, and past results do not guarantee future ones. A "value" indicator only means our model's estimate differs from a bookmaker's price; it is not a promise of profit, and bookmakers build a margin into every price. See the Prediction Disclaimer.

Parlays and accumulators

A parlay (accumulator) wins only if every leg wins. Each extra leg lowers the chance of winning, and the bookmaker's margin is applied to every leg, so the margins multiply: at a typical bookmaker's prices, parlays lose money on average. Our daily parlay is published as an illustration of our model's estimates, with every loss counted in its public record — it is not a recommendation to place it.

If you choose to bet

  • Treat betting as paid entertainment, never as a way to make money, pay bills or recover debts.
  • Decide a budget you can afford to lose before you start, and stick to it.
  • Set time limits and take regular breaks.
  • Never chase losses by betting more to win money back.
  • Do not bet when you are upset, stressed, lonely or have been drinking.
  • Use the safer-gambling tools your betting operator must offer: deposit limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion.
  • Consider blocking software on your devices, such as the free BetBlocker.

Warning signs

Gambling may be becoming a problem if you:

  • spend more money or time on it than you planned, or more than you can afford
  • chase losses or borrow money, sell things or miss bills to gamble
  • hide your gambling or lie about it to people close to you
  • feel anxious, irritable or low when you are not gambling, or gamble to escape problems
  • neglect work, study, family or friends because of gambling
  • think about betting most of the time

If any of these sound familiar, talk to someone. Help is free and confidential.
